Tarangire Hot Air Balloon Safari:

Tarangire is often overlooked for balloon safaris, with most travellers choosing this once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the Serengeti instead. Many guests only take a quick game drive in Tarangire before riding on to Karatu. But for those looking to experience all the park’s majesty, a balloon safari is unforgettable and definitely worth staying overnight for.

Your adventure starts before sunrise, with a pickup from your hotel by one of our trusted partner companies. As the sky transforms from deep blue to purple to vibrant orange, you’ll arrive at the launch site and meet the captain for a quick safety briefing before climbing into the basket. As the flames ignite, you suddenly rise into the air and the vastness of Tarangire opens up before you.

Tarangire is home of the baobab and acacia trees, and lucky travelers who view these remarkable trees from above say it’s like nothing else they’ve ever experienced. As you drift high above the park, you’ll follow herds of elephants, zebras and wildebeests as they meander through the iconic trees and plains. The Tarangire River is the geographic highlight, providing animals with a source of water and place to congregate.

After an hour-long ride, you touch down and enjoy an incredible bush breakfast- complete with champagne. Our office staff have taken the balloon safari in Tarangire, and we can’t recommend it enough. Stay an extra night and make this experience part of your journey—you won’t regret it!
