Mto wa Mbu Biking Village Tour
Tanzania is a beautiful country with so much more than just game drives, and we highly encourage our guests to explore the rhythm of daily life and connect with our people and culture. One of the best ways to tap into that energy is by biking through Mto wa Mbu village. Ride through streets and backroads that safari vehicles don’t reach, feeling the pulse of the community as you move. There is something undeniably special about being on a bike, navigating at your own pace, soaking in the sights and hearing the sounds of the streets up close.
Your journey begins in the banana plantations, where a variety of banana trees line the dirt paths, their wide leaves swaying in the Manyara breeze. From there, you’ll weave through the village, exploring many facets and aspects of daily life in this village that is home to more than 120 tribes. You will stop at a local bar to learn how mbege (banana beer) is brewed, roll past market stalls, rice paddies, and local workshops where artisans carve intricate wooden sculptures and paint scenes of Tanzanian life. This isn’t just a tour- it’s a deep dive into the heart of the culture.
