Luxury Safaris in Tanzania

Accommodation on Luxury safaris in Tanzania is in Lodges and sometimes Tented Camps.  The approximate price range of this accommodation is: U$D 235 – 600 per person, per night.
All your food is provided by the lodge.

Lodges are full service facilities with private rooms or cottages with private bathrooms and have restaurants and lounges.  Most have swimming pools. Many lodges are architecturally stunning made with local materials and inspired by local designs and the environment.

Tented camps are permanent or semi-permanent camps sited in areas of excellent game viewing. These provide many of the comforts of a lodge within private spacious canvas tents on a solid permanent base with beds and private baths, and high-quality meals. Tented camps are more intimate than lodges as they generally accommodate 12 to 20 guests.

Why should I choose Tanzania for a luxury safari?

Tanzania offers something for everyone. Spectacular wildlife and landscapes; opportunities for climbing the ‘Roof of Africa’; rich cultural history, tropical paradise islands with white sands and turquoise waters and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.

There’s no question that Tanzania makes a sensational impact on almost every visitor, whether it’s their first trip to Africa or their twentieth. With more than a third of its vast area set aside for the protection of species ranging from chimpanzees to elephants and to some of the world’s greatest geological splendours (the Great Rift Valley, Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti) it is no wonder that so many people choose Tanzania as their luxury safari destination.

When it comes to luxury accommodation, Tanzania has many beautiful camps and lodges offering unique experiences, combining a classic safari with the ultimate in luxury. Spend your days exploring wildlife in the wilderness and then relax back at camp, enjoying the high quality service.

There are countless opportunities for adventure, intimacy and forging unforgettable memories. With years of experience, your Lion King Safari Specialist will help you to plan an unforgettable trip.

What is included in a Tanzania luxury Safari?

Our goal at Lion King is to guide people through the adventure of a life-time. We want to provide you with a made-to-measure experience that you will never forget. Luxury Safaris start at U$D 500 per day, per person. This includes everything from the airport pick-up, luxury accommodations, park fees, three tasty meals per day, a private 4×4 Toyota Landcruiser with a pop-up roof, and a knowledgeable and charismatic Guide. We also offer unlimited drinking water, tea and coffee and some complimentary wine, beer and soda. Like anything, it’s easy to spend much more money, especially on accommodation. Some of the top end camps cost over U$D 1,000 per person, per night. Your Safari Specialist will happily customise your trip according to your wishes (and budget!)

Can you describe a typical day on a Tanzania luxury Safari?

It is difficult to describe a typical day, as this will depend on your itinerary. We have chosen to focus on a typical day in the Serengeti, as many of our guests will spend at least two days here. The majority of accommodation in the Serengeti is Tented Camps, which may sound somewhat rustic, but manage to combine comfort, luxury and great service with that truly unique feeling of being under the stars and under canvas in the middle of the wilderness. Many guests who opt for a luxury safari are amazed by the levels of comfort, furnishings and service it is possible to offer in the middle of the bush.

Life on safari has a rhythm of its own, largely dictated by the animal’s movements. Generally, the most rewarding times for game viewing is in the cooler early mornings and also late in the afternoons when the animals are most active. Some guests prefer to do early morning and late afternoon game drives, with time during the hottest part of the day to relax in camp.

Early mornings are arguably the most beautiful and peaceful time in the bush. Imagine laying in bed, soaking up the beauty of the early morning light, the stillness in the air and the sound of the birds. Sound is a particularly emotive part of the safari experience and the echo of these moments stays with our guests for a lifetime.

Bush meals tend to be hearty and warming. The variety and quality of food is amazing, considering the location of the Camps. Being in the middle of the bush seems to increase your appetite and appreciation for good food.

All camps will have a fire pit where you can enjoy sharing stories with a night cap, or simply sitting under the African night sky, studded with stars, listening to the mesmerising sounds of the bush.

Due to the early starts, guests tend to head to their tents fairly early. Camps are not fenced and animals can and do wander through the camp. You will always be escorted to and from your tent. Zipping yourself up inside your cosy tent, knowing what is outside is a somewhat adventurous but comforting sensation!

Safaris are a significant financial investment, and for many of our guests a once in a lifetime experience that has been dreamed about for many years. Why not consider going the extra mile and opting for a luxury experience?
